US President Donald Trump's Muslim ban has affected lots of people, including Oscar -nominated Iranian director Asghar Farhadi. Because of the travel ban, the director will not be able to make it to Academy Awards.

Farhadi's movie "The Salesman" is nominated in the Best foreign-language film category. The movie tells the story of a young couple in Tehran involved in a production of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman." When they moved to a new apartment, a violent act connected to a former tenant changed their lives, CBS News said.

Trump's order bans citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries (Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Iraq) from entering the United States. According to The New York Times, Farhadi's ability to attend the Oscars is thrown into question because of this executive order. Some protesters have even called a cancellation of this year's Oscars.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released a statement saying it was "extremely troubling" that Farhadi and the cast and crew of "The Salesman" could be barred from entering the US. Trita Parsi, director of the National Iranian American Council confirmed that Farhadi will not be attending the ceremony. In a Twitter post, Parsi said: "Confirmed: Iran's Asghar Farhadi won't be let into the US to attend Oscar's. He's nominated for best foreign-language film... #MuslimBan"

But other reports say that the director might have been able to get an exception, but Farhadi says he will not get one condemning "the unjust conditions" forced upon some of his compatriots, as well as the "citizens of the other six countries trying to legally enter the United States of America."

In a statement released about Farhadi attending the event, the director said that he has decided to not attend the Academy Awards Ceremony. He also said that humiliating one nation with the pretext of guarding the security of another is not something new, and this has always "laid the groundwork for the creation of future divide and enmity."
