"ARK Survival: Evolved" is a game that revolves around hunting for dinosaurs in a prehistoric land, but the latest PC mod for the game now allows players to do something they have always dreamed of since they were kids: hunt for Pokémon. The mod has been aptly dubbed "Pokémon Evolved" and was recently hit with a DMCA or Digital Millennium Copyright Act claim, but it has since been lifted and players are able to download the mods once more.

The one responsible for the mod goes by the name Mystic Academy on the Steam marketplace. In an interview with PC Gamer, Mystic Academy believes the original DMCA complaint came from another modder who was also making a Pokémon mod for "Ark." But it is interesting to note that the Pokemon Company has not gotten involved in this issue yet.

The new mod has replaced the game's dinosaurs with 30 different types of Pokémon, including some familiar ones such as Rapidash, Gyarados, Alakazam, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Fan-favorite, Pikachu, is not yet available at this time. According to the mod's page on the Steam Workshop, players will eschew avoid gathering resources since they will be given credits by killing the Pokémon that they encounter instead.

The credits earned by players can be used in the Poke Terminal where they can purchase glyphs, potions, and building materials. Players are also able to buy a base bed using their credits which can help summon Pokemon to the Poke Terminal.

Needless to say, gamers who have yet to try out the new mod may want to do it now before the Pokémon Company steps in and shuts it down for good. "Ark" was first released for Windows PC via Steam back in 2015 and has since become one of the most consistently played PC games in the world.
