HTC really hasn't been given that much attention in the smartphone market, but that could all change this year after a video leak showed that the company could be focusing their efforts towards personalization.

The leak was shared by a user named @evleaks on Twitter and shows what appears to be a HTC promotional video. In the video the company explains that a person's phone should be as individual as they are, just like with their choices of clothing and music.

The company has always been known to target a younger demographic and the message being sent out in the video seems to suggest that it is still targeting this same audience. HTC hopes to make its phone standout from that of its rivals by turning towards different designs and finishes. The video also shows some of the styles that the company has used before such as the 2016 Desire model's splash style. However, it differs in the sense that it focuses on three different techniques, namely super fibers, litmus, and chemical.

It is still not yet clear what these techniques will result in, but what is clear is that is sending a message about individuality. Of the three aforementioned techniques, the one that appears to be the most distinctive are super fibers. While not much is known about the details at this time, the super fibers look more like a finish.

The Litmus technique on the other hand appears somewhat similar to the one the company has used before on its One S model. If this is the case, then the HTC U Play will sport dual rear cameras. Fans will also want to be on the lookout for some more updates from HTC as they are expected to release more information regarding the HTC U on January 12. A report from Tech Radar also suggests that the HTC U Play will be released alongside two other phones during the MWC 2017 event.
