Spanning a total 12,000 kilometers, the China-Britain Freight train is the first direct rail system that connects China and the UK. This particular rail system has been launched the first week of January and is expected to complete its maiden voyage in a whopping length of 18 days.

After the infamous Brexit, this might be one of the most ideal economic move of Britain as an independent from the European Union. It has been generally designed to strengthen China's growing economic and diplomatic ties with Britain. The great thing about it is that it will certainly benefit countries that the rail will traverse.

A modern Silk Road, according to Bloomberg, it is expected to bring with it goods from the People's Republic of China to many different places in the world. It has been in the works since 2013. Now four years later, China has made their ambitions come true as the freight train has made its maiden voyage and has made headlines all over the globe.

It has always been a dream for many solo travelers and backpackers to traverse travel straight from Asia to Europe without the use of a boat or a plane. As of the moment, sadly, this particular rail system is only available to transport goods through intercontinental tunnels. However, it would seem that there are plans to provide human transport in the future through the same means.

On a similar note and seeing this as a potential for tourism boom, the Trans-Siberian rail system seems to be doing some expansion as well. According to a report from the Daily Mail, a new Japanese plan has been in the works and has conceptualized to use the Trans-Siberian railway to allow passengers to travel from Tokyo to Britain. It would be best to hold on to those backpacking gears as it is only a matter of time to know which railway would be successful first.
