Video of the gameplay of "Dragon Quest XI" on the PS4 and 3DS has been released. Although the video does not feature the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has confirmed that the game will be released on the upcoming hybrid console.

According to gaming website GameSpot, footage of the much awaited "Dragon Quest XI" was released recently along with new details regarding the game. The absence of the Nintendo Switch from the video which showed gameplay from the PS4 and 3DS, was curious.

Square Enix and Nintendo has previously said that "Dragon Quest XI" would be released on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo however has come forward to confirm that the game is indeed coming to its highly anticipated console.

Gaming website Gematsu reported that in a blog post on its official Japanese website, Nintendo made its first official mention of "Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time" on the Nintendo Switch. This could alleviate the concerns of fans of the Nintendo Switch and Dragon Quest, over the lack of any scenes of the Switch in the released video.

Before Nintendo's confirmation, there was only talk of a Switch version was being considered. More concrete information came in a magazine interview when the creator of the Dragon Quest series mentioned a Nintendo Switch version was coming.

When the release date for "Dragon Quest XI" was announced for the PS4 and 3DS, no mention was made of the Nintendo Switch. In a press release of Square Enix regarding its release date, the Nintendo was also not mentioned. This is why concerns of fans were growing if "Dragon Quest XI" would ever be released on the upcoming game console.

According to Forbes magazine, the Dragon Quest series is hugely popular in Japan so "Dragon Quest XI" receives considerable attention. Its release on any platform such as the PS4 and 3DS is a very significant event for those platforms. The release of Dragon Quest XI on the Nintendo Switch would significantly boost the prospects of the fledgling console.
