Karl Lagerfeld, in partnership with another group, is to foray into the hospitality industry, with a hotel chain, residential properties, night clubs and restaurants. Karl Lagerfeld is a German fashion designer, photographer, and artist based in Paris. He is the creative director and head designer of the fashion house Chanel, as well as the Italian house Fendi and his own fashion label.

Karl Lagerfeld's partner in this venture will be Brandmark Collective BV. Brandmark Collective was founded in 2015 in Amsterdam and its pioneers have created more than 25 hotels around the world. Pierpaolo Righi, CEO and president of Karl Lagerfeld, said the move into hotels reflects the desire to "broaden Karl Lagerfeld's comprehensive lifestyle experience." Brandmark CEO Tony Kurz said it would provide to hospitality developers and owners a concept that "celebrates the designer's unique approach and talent to lifestyle and fashion."

Karl Lagerfeld has previously partnered with Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, or SJM for a 270-room hotel in Macau. This project is a 20-story tower that's part of the future Lisboa Palace luxury development, which is scheduled to open in 2017 and is rated as a "six-star" property.

Lagerfeld joins a growing number of designers and luxury brands owners to have branched out into hotels, one that includes such names as Versace, Baccarat, Giorgio Armani, and Bulgari. See Yahoo report Karl Lagerfeld to Open Hotels, Resorts, Clubs

"The announcement marks a second surprise venture in a matter of months after Lagerfeld revealed a collection of wedding rings earlier in the year. Both of those projects will now sit alongside designing clothes, handbags, and accessories for Chanel, Fendi and his own label, not to mention his artistic endeavors, photography projects and other graphic design work."
