Even though Kevin Durant may be wearing a Golden State Warriors uniform these days, it doesn't mean that he has entirely forgotten all of the connections he made in Oklahoma City. Durant's charity foundation donated $57,000 to help Positive Tomorrows, Oklahoma City's school for homeless children. The grant will be utilized to buy land and build a new school.

"Kevin continues to be a great friend to Positive Tomorrows, and he has been instrumental in helping our school grow over the last several years," said Susan Agel, President and Principal at Positive Tomorrows. "Still, we consistently turn away students due to a lack of space, and his generous contribution this year along with several anonymous donors will enable us to embark on our upcoming capital campaign debt-free. We are so grateful."

According to CBS Sports, the Golden State forward has long been a supporter of Positive Tomorrows, personally giving shoes to every child at Christmas, fulfilling the school's full Amazon Wish List, and funding a summer break camp program. In fact, last Christmas, Durant funded a new scratch kitchen and cafeteria that helped the school increase its daily capacity by 16 students in its most recent school year.

ESPN adds that Durant left Oklahoma City in July, after being there for eight years as a perennial All-Star with the Thunder. It isn't necessarily unusual for a player to continue their charitable contributions to a city after being traded away, but Durant has since said that the plight of homeless children is close to his heart. When he won the MVP award in 2014, he talked about the challenges of his childhood, moving from apartment to apartment, worried about having clothes on his back and food on the table. He added that his mother was the real MVP. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors and Durant will make their first trek of the season to Oklahoma City on February 11.
