Since the American animated TV series "Adventure Time" first appeared on our television screens via cable channel Cartoon Network, viewers always wondered why the people in the Land of Ooo never had an issue with humans. However, the series never answered the question "Why?", guess what? In a month's time, the award-winning animated series will debut an eight-part miniseries entitled "Adventure Time: Islands."

Before coming to an end, according to Variety, the miniseries will air from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2 on Cartoon Network. The four-night special event is said to answer one of the biggest questions in the series: "What happened to the humans?"

As of the moment, the only humans who showed up on "Adventure Time" is Finn and Susan Strong. Over the span of the series, it has been routinely implied that most by far of humans were headed to annihilation amid an atomic end of the world known as The Mushroom War. However, we've rarely seen evidence of that, and a few human mixtures exist in this universe, for example, Marceline the Vampire and The Ice King. Finn is the only character that resembles a human since the commencement of the series.

The miniseries will take after Finn and Jake as they venture out of the Land of Ooo "to embark on a quest of epic proportions across the ocean and into new lands." According to Yahoo!, Finn and Jake will encounter new creatures, discover new islands and use teamwork along the way.

"Adventure Time," which is running for six years, has been recognized and garnered several awards along the way. Some of those include a six Primetime Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, two Annie Awards, a Motion Picture Sound Editors Award, a Pixel Award, and a Kerrang! Award. Based on Pitchfork, it was announced last September that the series would come to an end by 2018 after airing its last and ninth season.
