Entertainment company Netflix shockingly released a trailer for their upcoming original series that will make its way on screen this Dec. 16. The series is called "The OA," which revolves around a blind girl who went missing on her 20s.

According to a report by TIME, the series stars Brit Marling playing the lead role as Prairie Johnson, a blind kid who went missing during her childhood and returns after seven years with her eyesight restored. The eight one-hour-long episodes promise the unraveling of mystery behind the disappearance of Prairie Johnson.

The series according to Digital Trends was described by Netflix as "a powerful, mind-bending tale about identity, human connection, and the borders between life and death..." The trailer, which was recently released, gives off similar vibes like the other Netflix series hit "Stranger Things."

The original series was first announced last March, which is directed by Zal Batmanglij who is known to collaborate with Marling in previous projects like "The Sound Of My Voice" and "The East". Both Batmanglij and Marling is going to produce "The OA" together with Oscar-winning producers Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Michael Sugar.

As for now, very little about "The OA" is known aside from what the trailer shows and no reports reveal the meaning behind the letters OA. The adult Prairie Johnson, in the trailer, says the words "The biggest mistake I made was believing that if I cast a beautiful net, I'd catch only beautiful things..."

As per CNET, the cast of the series also include Jason Isaacs together with Phyllis Smith. Johnson's father will be portrayed by "The Walking Dead" character Hershel Greene, Scott Wilson. "The OA" tv series also has their very own dedicated Instagram page, which gives off clues on what to expect in their upcoming series. The anonymity of the show heightens the hype that creates curiosity to its potential viewers.
