The third annual Game Awards, which is held during the first week of the month of December, will be kicking off pretty soon. One of the awardees of last year's Game Awards was not able to attend and receive his award due to controversial issues with the video game company he was working for. Fortunately, he will be attending this year's awards and claim the award he earned.

Hideo Kojima, a Japanese video game designer who is also known as the creator and mastermind behind one of the world's most popular stealth game franchise, the Metal Gear series, will be claiming his award for Best Score and Soundtrack, and also his award for Best Action and Adventure, which he acquired from his hit video game, "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain", which he failed to receive last year due to being banned by the video game company which Kojima was then working for, Konami Digital Entertainment, for having "employment" and "contract" issues, as stated by Gamezone.

"Mr. Kojima had every intention of being with us tonight," said the award show's creator, Geoff Keighley, last year during the 2015 Game Awards. "But unfortunately, he was informed by a lawyer representing Konami just recently that he would not be allowed to travel to tonight's awards ceremony..." said Keighley, which was then followed by a series of boos from the crowd, according to the Morning News USA.

Earlier this year, Kojima parted ways with Konami Digital Entertainment and announced that he started a new partnership with Sony. He is currently developing a new game called "Death Stranding" with its teaser released during this year's E3.

Keighley announced via Twitter that Kojima will also receive the Industry Icon Award on this coming Game Awards. "Very happy he will join us live as we pay tribute to his incredible career so far," said Keighley in another tweet. The 2016 Game Awards will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday, 1st of December.
