Travel Tips: Your One Day Guide To Dubrovnik, Croatia

The Croatian city of Dubrovnik is well known for its historical landmarks, gorgeous beaches, and magnificent medieval walls. Nowadays, it is more popularly known as the setting for King's Landing in HBO's "Game of Thrones." The picturesque Pearl of the Adriatic is full of wonderful sights and activities that make it into an incredible vacation destination.

What would you do if you only had one day? With so much you can do but with such little time, planning the right way to spend your precious time can be a hassle. However, there are several ways to efficiently spend twenty four hours in this magnificent city. Here are some tips for spending a day in Dubrovnik.

Walk Around The City Walls

No trip to Dubrovnik would be complete without seeing its magnificent stone walls. A two kilometer walk around them allows travelers to see as much of Dubrovnik as they can. With views of everything from the glistening sea, the scattered islands, the jagged mountains, and the rust-colored roofs of the city, this is the perfect opportunity to take in as much of the scenery as possible.

According to Croatia Traveller, it's best to begin at Pile Gate, walk straight towards Placa or Stradun, and end at the Ploce Gate. The site guarantees that this route will deliver the most scenery, museums and landmarks possible throughout the walk.

Eat Local

Croatia is home to some of the most deliciously fresh Mediterranean cuisine. Grabbing a freshly made sandwich for lunch and some decadent Dalmatian seafood for dinner can more than make up for the lack of time. Dubrovnik is also filled with restaurants that offer indulgent pasta dishes and refreshingly creative salads.

Beach Day!

Croatia is known for its beautiful, clean white and gold sand beaches. The city of Dubrovnik is home to several great beaches that are perfect for picnics, walks, and lounging. Spending the afternoon at the beach may not seem very productive, but it certainly is the epitome of a good vacation.

The Telegraph UK recommends Sveti Jakov, a beach located a few minutes away from the old town. The beach is home to an array of water activities such as kayaking, island hopping, and sailing. They also explain that it's a great beach to enjoy a swim in the turquoise sea.

Embrace The Night

At sundown, the beautiful city of Dubrovnik is transformed into a busy nightlife center. With pubs, bars, wineries and clubs open until early in the morning, the city is strewn with several ways to spend the night. Whether you're looking to have a lively night on the town with bar hopping and clubbing, or looking to end the day with a glass of crisp red wine, Dubrovnik has it all.
