The New York food scene is at its prime right now. It's buzzing with almost all cuisines from the world and there's one particular cuisine that's hard to miss - Mexican Cuisine.

With its strong aromas and tasteful staples, it's no wonder that New Yorkers love it, and come back again and again.

President-elect Donald Trump, who has expressed his distaste for Mexicans countless amount of times, once addressed about Mexicans saying, "They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime."

That's just it - Mexican Cuisine should be illegal because it is indeed addicting. Here are some of NYC's best Mexican restaurants. 

1) Los Tacos

Located in the Chelsea Market on 9th Avenue, New York, Los Tacos throbs of simple yet authentic Mexican Cuisine. Owned by three close friends from Mexico and California, its menu offers ample choices of tacos, tostados, quesadillas and mulas.

For less than $5, you could enjoy a range of Mexican primes from Carne Asada (grilled steak) Tacos to Adobado (marinated pork) Quesadillas.

2) Cosme

This restaurant in the Flatiron District of New York stands out for its hip and contemporary take on Mexican Cuisine. It even received so much buzz last 2014 that getting a reservation alone was really difficult.

Cosme is owned by world-renowned Chef Enrique Olvera who also owns a famous restaurant in Mexico. He uses local and seasonal ingridients from Hudson Valley. One crowd favorite is the Mushroom and Squash Barbacoa.

3) El Atoradero

What was once a bodega is now a renowned go-to place in Brooklyn. Proprietress Denisse Lina Chavez used to only sell her famouse Carnitas here but now, they offer a wide array of Mexican dishes.

With the usual, tacos, tortas and cemitas, El Atoradero also serves Mole Poblano, braised ribs and etc.

4) Empellon Taqueria


Mixing fine-dining and fusion cooking into a Mexican blend, Emepellón Taqueria has done just that. Located in West 4th Street, New York, they have been appraised countless amount of times for their authentic, yet atypical mix of flavors.

Most revered for their impeccable tacos, one favorite is the Shishito Taco - a mix of green Poblano chiles, onion, garlic, cream and aromatics.

5) Casa Enrique

A local hotspot in Long Island City, Casa Enrique bears honor for its original Chiapas essence. This is because the executive chef, Cosme Aguilar, is a native of Chiapas, Mexico.

Casa Enrique just recently received its first Michelin star last 2014. But it's alsready predictable that it won't stop there. One famous dish of theirs is the Lamb Shank famous for its tasteful sauce with a hum of Mexican Cuisine.
