After campaigning at Iowa for the 2016 US elections, Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence's campaign jet landed Thursday evening at LaGuardia Airport only to have experienced a terrifying experience that left his supporters concerned for his safety.

As reported by ABC News, heavy rains poured down in the evening of Thursday which caused Pence's plane to skid off the runway and halt 300 meters before it will hit through the Grand Central Parkway. According to The Port Authority in its statement, "There were no injuries tonight when a charter plane carrying Republican Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence and more than 30 others overshot a LaGuardia Airport runway. There was no fire and passengers are off the plane."

Luckily no one was harmed and the Indiana governor was quick to send a tweet ensuring his followers that he is safe and unharmed and grateful for everyone. According to CNN, Republican's presidential candidate Donald Trump, called his running mate and "was very glad everyone on board the plane is safe."

As of now, investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident. Passengers onboard the 18-year-old Boeing 737-700 were also interviewed and asked to describe what happened. Journalists who were in the plane stated that they could feel the plane fishtailing as it landed.

Governor Pence also described the ordeal as "10 seconds of uncertainty." After landing, Gov. Pence said 'we just immediately felt heavy braking on the runway and the plane fishtailed a bit. You could feel us bouncing off,' he said. 'With mud splattered up on the windows, we figured we were up off the runway, but thank God everyone was fine.'

Fortunately, a special Engineered Material Arresting System stopped the plane from further driving through. The collapsing concrete penetrated the plane's landing gear and slowed it down to a stop.
