The newest ship in the Dream class of ships for Carnival cruise line is the Carnival Breeze, and it's making waves with its new features. Most notably, the ship has the first "multi-dimensional" theater on a Carnival cruise ship.

The Thrill Theater has 24 seats, and uses a combination of 3-D projection technology, special effects, and motion simulation to show movies that are each less than half an hour long. Cruise passengers can pay $7.95 per person for a single entry ticket, or they can purchase an unlimited entry ticket for $14.95 per person.

The theater is located near the childrens' areas on Deck 4 of the ship, and the first films are aimed at younger audiences. USA Today's website reports that the "initial short films offered in the theater are based on movies such as Happy Feet and cartoons such as SpongeBob SquarePants."

The attraction is intended to engage the passengers by stimulating multiple senses during the film. In addition to the visual effects, for which patrons need to wear special 3-D glasses, Thrill Theater participants will experience physical sensations like the feeling of air blowing on their necks or water being squirted at them.

The ship, which can hold a maximum of 3,690 passengers, made its debut in Venice earlier this month. Until the end of October, the Carnival Breeze will depart from Barcelona for trips out on the Mediterranean before it heads across the Atlantic Ocean to Miami, Florida. From there, it will sail on six- and eight-day trips to the Caribbean throughout the year.
