Early this week, Procter & Gamble the company that manufactures Crest toothpastes among others had a Crest Pro Heath Toothpaste recall. According to research and complaints by a number of dentists, Crest toothpaste contained a substance hazardous to human health.

Crest Pro Health toothpaste recall has been done due to the complaint of a dental hygienist in Texas. During an oral prophylaxis on one of her patients, the dentist named Trish Walraven had noticed a peculiar stain on the gums. The stains were tiny blue specks which she had thought was a dental cleaning product used by her patient.

However, Trish began to ask around where she found out that other dentists had the same concern. Thanks to Trish's' concern, she had found out that the stains were caused by a substance found only in Procter & Gamble's toothpaste, Crest.

Before the Crest Pro Health toothpaste recall, the Crest products contained polyethylene. This is a hazardous substance on human health mainly because it is only used for the production of plastic. The use of polyethylene has also raised environmental issues and concerns due to it not being biodegradable.

Thanks to the questioning and blogging of Trish Walraven, Procter & Gamble had a worldwide Crest Pro Health toothpaste recall. Yet, prior to the Crest Pro Health toothpaste recall, Procter & Gamble stated that the product had been FDA approved but due to the concerns of Walraven the product had been recalled.

Approximately 18 Crest products have been recalled due to the concern of dental hygienists with regards to the substance polyethylene present in the brand. Even before the Crest Pro Health toothpaste, there have already been a number of complaints with Procter & Gamble's toothpaste product, which include peeling of the lips, dry lips, burning feeling around the mouth and sore feeling around gum area.
