Stockton bank robbery left three people dead including one hostage and two suspects Wednesday afternoon. One of the people killed was a hostage while the other two dead were suspects in the robbery. According to CBS Local, after the Stockton bank robbery resulted in a high-speed chase which ended in gunfire, one other was left hospitalized.

KCRA reports that the fighting only began after the Stockton bank robbery itself. Apparently, around 2 p.m., officers heard there was a robbery at a Bank of the West branch in north Stockton, so they responded and went to the scene of the robbery.

The Stockton bank robbery happened before 3 p.m. at a Bank of the West near Hammer Lane and Pacific Avenue. Before the violence from the Stockton bank robbery began, three women were seen by officers being taken hostage by three suspects in the 7800 block of Thornton Road, at gunpoint, report CBS Local.

According to Officer Joe Silva, the robbers stole a bank employee's SUV and took the hostages with them, and that's when the pursuit began.

CBS Sacramento reported that the suspects in the Stockton bank robbery left the scene of the crime using the bank manager's blue Ford Explorer that they stole.

Witness Jose Maldonado said of what he saw during the Stockton bank robbery, 'Three guys had three guns and three hostages, and they had the guns to the hostages' heads. And they were petrified.'

According to police, the suspects opened fire with semi-automatic weapons as officers chased them over several highways including Interstate 5.  Witnesses described the sight of the scene after the Stockton bank robbery as similar to a war zone.

Maldonado said, 'It was more than 100 shots.'

Meanwhile, Stockton Police Chief Eric Jones said, 'During the entire pursuit, police officers were constantly fired upon by the assailants with high-powered assault rifles.'

KCRA reports that the chase that lasted at least an hour and spanned several miles. During the pursuit which reached Lodi and Acampo, one of the hostages was either thrown or jumped off from the SUV when the pursuit ended in the middle of a street, said CBS Local. Silva said the hostage was also shot during the chase and was afterwards taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound.

Silva added that the high-speed chase which resulted from the Stockton bank robbery continued while gunfire can be heard and seen erupting from the SUV.

While police chased the suspects from the Stockton bank robbery, it couldn't be helped that police cars and an unknown number of homes and uninvolved vehicles along the suspects' path will get involved as they were peppered with gunshots. From Highway 99 to Interstate 5 to Highway 12 and then to surface streets, the pursuit went on for about an hour.

The Stockton bank robbery began about 2 p.m. and the high-speed chase only ended around 3:40 p.m. near Thornton Road and Otto Drive. As a cacophony of shots was heard nearing the end of the pursuit, according to police no movement can be seen inside the robbers' vehicle.

Jones said that one of the suspects, along with a suspect, died at the scene. He added that 'It also preliminarily appears that one of the gunmen used the third and final hostage, the bank customer from earlier, as a shield.' The other two hostages have been confirmed as employees from Bank of the West.

Reports say that at least 14 patrol vehicles were hit by bullets after the Stockton bank robbery. According to police, 'The firing never really stopped,' and that officers were fired upon "constantly" by suspects who were equipped with "massive" amounts of ammunition.

Jones said in a late-night news conference, 'They were trying to kill (the officers), no doubt.'

Fortunately, no officers have been injured after the Stockton bank robbery and the chase.

While police did not reveal the identity of the hostage who was killed after the Stockton bank robbery, friends and family have identified her as Misty Holt-Singh, adding that she was a wife and mother.

One of the robbers from the Stockton bank robbery survived. On Thursday, he was identified as 19-year-old suspect Jaime Ramos of Stockton, and he was conscious when he was taken into police custody, said Jones. Wednesday evening, the second suspect from the Stockton bank robbery was confirmed dead. All suspects had ammunition taped to their bodies, reports KCRA.

Police said Ramos was arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on homicide, kidnapping, robbery, and attempted murder charges.

On Thursday morning, police presence was still heavy while investigators processed evidence along Thornton Road.

Authorities have already released the suspects' identities by Thursday. Police said the other two deceased suspects from the Stockton bank robbery were also Stockton residents. They were 30- and 27-year-old men.

Meanwhile, as investigation continues, the FBI and the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office are assisting. According to reports, officials are now looking to see whether the suspects had ties to the other bank robberies in the area. Crime scene investigators have already found at least three handguns and an assault rifle, says reports.

Silva said early Wednesday evening of the Stockton bank robbery, 'During my 18 years as a law enforcement officer, this is the first time that I've seen this here in the city of Stockton. So right now, we're interviewing the bank employees, and we're going to debrief the hostages once they're OK. We can talk to them to see exactly what transpired inside the bank.'

Police told KCRA 3 that the suspects from the Stockton bank robbery apparently planned to ambush officers. Police added that the robbers have also tied up a bank security guard earlier during the day. The guard was able to dial 911 before he got tied down.

Jones reportedly provided a chronology of the events from the Stockton bank robbery while addressing media from police headquarters.

He said, 'It was such a chaotic ... fluid situation, really one of the most dangerous, tense situations that a police officer could go through. There was a lot on the line and the officers responded appropriately.'

Meanwhile, Bank of the West has released a statement in lieu of the tragedies after the Stockton bank robbery saying that it would not provide information about the victims.

The statement read, 'This is a tragic incident and we are focused on supporting our customers and employees.'

Stockton bank robbery hostage's condition still isn't known as no details have been provided to media yet. However, other reports are saying that the bullet wounds of the surviving hostage at the hospital are considered minor.
