Air travel surged this time of the year due to promo fares and improved port conditions. But which airline most passengers will take is yet to be seen according to their needs. Personal-financed site WalletHub released a report on 2017's Best & Worst Airlines according to a study based on customer's experience to help them save time, money and nuisance altogether during their next flight.
About 10 major airlines and two carriers were compared according to 13 different categories like Cancelled Flights, Animal Related Incidents, and Mishandled Baggage Reports among many others. Most cases are focused on non-financial matters, but the price is still considered when looking for booking and concessionaire options.
Alaska Airlines bagged the Best Airline Overall award with WalletHub score of 81.02, followed by Delta Air Lines with 73.08, according to a press statement sent to Travelers Today. Alaska also earned praises for being Most Reliable Airline and Best Airline for Pets after having fewer flight cancellations and delays among other airlines. They also have reported 1.3 animals that died or lost in 2016 over the 10,000 transports in a year.
Spirit and Frontier Airlines served as the best brands for the budget-conscious traveler, while JetBlue emerged as the most comfortable airline after offering great flight experiences with Wi-Fi, extra legroom, and complimentary snacks and beverages, according to the site.
Southwest Airlines garnered the Most Satisfactory Airline after it received the fewest complaints in 2016. Unfortunately, Spirit and Frontier Airlines received the most number of customers' dissatisfaction.
WalletHub analyzed the study based on a report given by the Department of Transportation in 2016. Points were given by industry experts and were allocated accordingly to the given categories.
Meanwhile, CNBC reported the International Air Transport Association as saying that demand for travel rises despite the U.S. travel ban. In February, about 4.8 percent rose in travel ratings, which were seen to be the highest record for the month compared to previous years.
