Flight Lands Due to Fire Concern

Dec 23, 2012 01:49 AM EST

A flight had to land due to a concern over a possible fire. The plane made an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport after passengers smelled smoke.

According to NBC, a Cleveland-bound  United Airlines flight had to turn back to Philly shortly after the early morning takeoff after passengers thought they smelled smoke on the plane. The plane landed back at the airport at around 6:20 a.m. as a precaution.

The plane landed safely and no one was injured. After an inspection, officials found that there was no indication of smoke of a fire.

There were 47 passengers and crew on the plane who were removed from the aircraft and were taken back to the terminal so they could be placed on other flights courtesy of United Airlines.

Certain runways at the airport faced minor delays but everything was back to normal shortly after the incident.

This isn't the first time a plane had an issue with smoke. In October, a Jet2 flight filled with smoke, forcing the 189 passengers on board to evacuate before it took off. Earlier in October, an American Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing after passengers reported a smoke smell.
