Find Out Which Two Countries Really Like Each Other (And Why)

There's a lot of tension amongst other countries in the world that are happening today. However, there are two countries that really like each other and have remained friends for many years now. In fact, they even made a holiday to celebrate their friendship.

According to Jobbik, Poland and Hungary have always considered each other as brothers. Back in 2007, the two countries even set aside March 23rd and declared it as "The Day of Polish-Hungarian Friendship." It's really an interesting thing because the two countries don't even have a shared border.

There was a custom for the Hungarians that when a youngster reaches a certain age, going to Poland would be their rite of passage. Hitchhiking and staying with the locals is a tradition and just by waving out a mini Hungarian flag, one would get picked up for sure.

The brotherhood of Poland and Hungary is a big deal and an old proverb can prove it. "Hungarians and Poles are two brothers, they fight together and they drink together," is the belief that these two countries have always clung to and will be for the next generations to come.

But the question still remains as to why these two countries like each other so much. Well, BBC reported that it all started way back in the 14th century where the two countries shared monarchs in those times.

A good example would be king Louis the Great of Hungary who became the king of Poland after the Polish king Casimir III died without an heir to the throne. In 1576, the people elected a Hungarian, prince István Bathóry, to take over the Polish throne.

It was also in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution that the bond between the two countries was strengthened. A lot of Hungarian rebels were wounded after protesting against the Soviet Union but the Polish people came in thousands to help and donate blood.

The friendship between the two countries goes a long way back even in historical times. And it appears that it will remain like that for many years to come.
