Virgin Atlantic Giving Away $4,000 Swarovski Crystal Encrusted Eye Masks for Customers

Sep 05, 2012 04:27 PM EDT

Virgin Atlantic will be giving away five limited edition sleep masks worth  $4,000. The eye masks that will be given to five lucky passengers have $4,000 worth of Swarovski crystals encrusted on them, Thursday.

The airline introduced new amenity kits for economy, premium economy and first class on September 1.

In celebration of this, they are putting five of these eye masks--that include more than 3,000 red, white and blue crystals--in it's economy section of five flights.

The new economy amenity kits come with a red eye mask, sans crystals, with a sunglass design on them. The economy premium kits come in a charcoal grey pouch that is made out of recycled plastic bottles and will silk lining. For first class, they will have the same pouch only larger and it is designed to fit a tablet or e-reader.

The crystals on the eye masks were all hand applied and took ten hours per mask to create. The masks were designed by Saima Anwar who is an artist that has also created crystal eyelashes in her repertoire for the likes of Katy Perry.

This isn't the first time Virgin has teamed up with Swarovski. Since 2003, in first class there are Swarovski crystals on the cabin walls and curtains are adorned with the crystals on their new first-class section of their A330 aircraft.

The airline will hand these out Thursday September 6th on flights to or from eleven cities including Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles and New York.
