In Sept. 12 of 2014, Gosling and his long-time partner, Eva Mendes, welcomed their baby girl. By Nov., Mendes finally revealed the name of their daughter. Both actors had loved the name Esmeralda, a character in Victor Hugo's renowned novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

"Ryan and I both love the Esmeralda character from the Victor Hugo novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and we just think it's a beautiful name," shared Mendes in a report by The Violet Files.

The actor was spotted out and about and photographers managed to take a quick shot of Gosling's hand. On his left fingers were the letters E, S, M, E, which spells out Esme.
