Starcraft II publisher Blizzard's multi-player-focused team-oriented first-person shooter had its biggest price drop ever. Overwatch is on sale at many online retailers with discounts of more than 40 percent off. Blizzard released Overwatch in May 2016. Since then it has expanded the game with additional content and sold millions of copies but the World of Warcraft publisher still did not stray far from the game's $60 price.

Overwatch was made free-to-play for a weekend by Blizzard, the publisher of Diablo III. This was in advance of the price drop so players could get a taste of Overwatch and then purchase the game at a more affordable price. The price drop of the game is a week in advance of Black Friday sales. According to Forbes magazine, gaming website GameSpot, and media website Mashable, Overwatch gets discounted by $25 on some major online retailers.

Overwatch will be on sale at almost every physical store on Black Friday. As seen in leaked Black Friday ads, the week-early price drop will be equivalent to the discounts at physical stores on the day of Black Friday itself. Buyers don't need to wait and can choose to buy Overwatch for $35 at online retailers and avoid the hassle of standing in long lines in the cold or going through the Black Friday crowd at a brick-and-mortar retailer. They can instead purchase the game online at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Blizzard's store, the Playstation Store, and the Xbox Store.

For a Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked member, the price of the game does down to $28. The sale for the most part, applies to boxed copies of the game rather than digital codes, however Amazon is selling the digital version for the same price, $35.

The $35 price will get a player the Overwatch: Origins Edition which contains items for other Blizzard games as well as extra hero skins for Overwatch. The Origins Edition is regularly sold for $60. The standard edition of Overwatch regularly sells for $40. That price is $5 over the discounted price of the Origins Edition. The game can be purchased with the discounted price for different gaming platforms. The discounted game is available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
