British Airways was forced to apologize after the airline accidentally released an advertisement with terrible timing. The ad encourage commuters to fly to the Indian Ocean, just a few days after officials revealed that missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 crashed into the body of water, with no survivors.

The advertisement has a watery background and was placed on escalators at Euston Station in central London. It contained the message: "Escape the commute and discover the Indian Ocean."

Someone took a photo of the ad and posted in to Reddit. It then went viral as it was shared across social media sites.

The original Reddit post read, "To those saying this picture is a fake, it's not. It's a video ad currently running on the escalators at Euston station in London. Here's another pic complete with swimming fish."

Twitter users made the airline aware of the incident. Some examples of tweets included "Not the best time for British Airways to run this ad..." and another tweeted "British Airways should probably pull this. #fail."

British Airways became aware of the issue and took to its Twitter page to apologize for the ad, saying "Our Indian Ocean advert contained pre-scheduled content that we recognise is inappropriate at this time. We're sorry for any offence caused."

Even though officials say the missing flight went down in the Indian Ocean, no real evidence has been found yet. Debris has been spotted on many occasions,  but turned out not the be traces of the plane that disappeared on March 8 on its way to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur.

On Monday, 10 aircraft and 11 ships were searching more than 98,000 square miles of the ocean, trying to find the plane. Four orange objects were spotted by a plane and were thought to be a lead, but it turned out to be old fishing gear.
