American Idol auditions 2014 truly deserve a flashback after Wednesday's performances.

Finally, the judges are settling in and ready to speak out and speak up about the contestants this season. Keith Urban is trying to reinvent more ways to describe his feelings on a performance, Jennifer Lopez is still kind as she tells what's on her mind, and Harry Connick Jr. is the hardcore judge of the trio, cruelly cutting to the chase and tells truths which can potentially set a contestant's confidence tumbling down.

This year is a fresh take on the show as the judges are not simply agreeing with each other anymore. Despite some mediocre comments however, they speak the truth of the matter in agreeing that the Top 12 contestants are subpar from last season's

Jena Irene sang KT Tunstall's "Suddenly I See", Alex Preston, Gavin DeGraw's "I Don't Want to Be", while Jessica Meuse did her own rendition of Dido's "White Flag".

For Jena Irene's part, she showed that she can take the stage twisting and entertaining the audience, but apparently it wasn't her best song choice. A lot of her notes were crumbling apart as well.

Alex Preston's version of Gavin DeGraw's "I Don't Want to Be" meanwhile lacks that Idol magic, even though J.Lo might have liked his rolled-up pants. Even so, the 44-year-old judge's comment included his get-up overwhelming the performance. Harry readily consented to J.Lo while Keith said that the song was around the contestant instead of at the center of it.

Jessica Meuse, "White Flag" rendition is apparently the biggest disappointment of the night. Harry and Keith even battled for two whole segments whether someone can sing off key whilst still force their appeal on an audience. Keith and J.Lo were a team here while Harry opposes their opinion. Still, Jessica Meuse was a sport as she reacted to the judges saying, "I'm sure y'all are correct, 'cause you're way more accomplished than I am."
