VH1 has commissioned a new series called 'Naked Dating', from the producers of shows like Extreme Makeover.

Each episode will feature a man and woman as they each date two naked prosepctive lovers each.  The series is apparently going to 'explore the art of romance', without preconcieved notions and stereotypes.

I don't know; isn't that part of the excitement of dating? Personally, I think this removes a lot of the thrill, although it will probably made for squirm-inducing viewing.

At the end of every hourlong episode, the daters will analyse and talk about what they've learned about their dates and themselves from the experience, before deciding which lover they will move forward with.

The shows producers insist the show will not be played for shock value and that the focus will be on examining the honest self and the surprising results that can come out of that.  VH1 says the show will be tastefully edited according to the channel's standards and will not be gratuitous or extreme.

"At first, this seems like a show that's all about a noisy, provocativew hook, and we understand how some people may think that," said Susan Levinson, executive Vice-President of VH1.  "But if you go deeper, it's really about something that we can all relate to: the search for true love.  It's also a series with heart and masterful storytelling, which are both earmarks of an engaging, must-watch show."

Naked Dating producers say they "created the show based on  marrying a provocative idea with back-to-basics philosophy.  What happens if you take one man and one woman and strip them of all their pretences?"
