Valentine's Day 2014 is almost here and it's the season of love. Thousands of couple are planning to make 2014 the year for a couple's getaway. TripAdvisor found that 92 percent of travelers will take a couple's trip this year, up from 78 percent in 2012, and of those 17 percent will take their trip for Valentine's Day. TripAdvisor has a recommendation for the Top 10 Romantic Hotels.

Of the 5,000 people surveyed, 52 percent said they're taking a couple's trip just because they're in love. Another 23 percent said its to celebrate an anniversary or birthday and five percent said they'll take a trip to spend time away from the kids.

Of those traveling couple, 75 percent said they'll take a plane, 53 percent said they'll travel by car and 15 percent said they'll take a boat or cruise.

The most popular destinations that couples want to go to this year are beach or ocean locations according to 61 percent of respondents. Another 39 percent will go to a city, 24 percent will go to an island, 21 percent will head for the mountains and 18 percent will go to the countryside.
Forty-four percent said they will travel domestically, 26 percent will travel internationally, and 30 percent will take both international and domestic trips in 2014.

There are specific destinations in the U.S. that couples will travel to this year. The most popular destinations include:

San Francisco, California
Las Vegas, Nevada
Honolulu, Hawaii
New York City, New York
Miami, Florida

Many traveling couples said will be using different types of accommodations. Thirty-five percent plan to spend big on a luxury hotel; 24 percent will stick to a chain hotel; 23 percent will stay in a small hotel; 19 percent will get a vacation rental and another 19 percent will stay at a Bed & Breakfast or inn.

Some will go really big as 30 percent plan to splurge on a hotel room upgrade. Here are the top 10 Travelers' Choice Hotels for Romance in the U.S.:
