Jewelry designer Jenny Lauren, the niece of famed fashion designer Ralph Lauren, was arrested in Shannon Ireland on Monday for disruptive behavior she exhibited on a Delta flight from Barcelona to New York. The plane was forced to make an unscheduled stop at the Irish airport due to her disruptive behavior.

Lauren, 41, was removed from the plane by airport police after landing, and spent the night at the local police station in Shannon.

At her arraignment on Tuesday she was charged with breaching the peace on board the transatlantic flight. Lauren was allegedly dangerously drunk and began verbally abusing fellow passengers and crew members.

The arraignment hearing was held in the downstairs function room of the Brian Bonu Pub in the village of Killaloe - as there is no dedicated courthouse in the area.

Ms. Lauren is said to have wept as proceedings began, as she sat only feet away from Heineken and Guinness beer taps.

Irish police officer Yvette Walsh told the court that upon Lauren being read her rights she responded: 'Can you say that in English please?'

With her right hand on the bible Lauren swore an oath to tell the truth to the court, then confirmed her name and nationality.

The pub was full to capacity as local on-lookers crammed in to witness the unusual spectacle.

After posting €2,500 bail Lauren was ordered to surrender her passport, and remain in Shannon.

Sharon Curley, a lawyer hired by Lauren, said her client would plead guilty to all charges.

Judge Patrick Durcan ruled that sentencing would take place in the nearby town of Ennis on Wednesday, once costs incurred by the airline and airport over the incident have been assessed.

The Delta flight, and its 200 passengers, continued onward to New York late Monday.

Ms. Lauren's uncle Ralph Lauren is the designer behind the world famous Polo brand, and the 162nd richest person in the world.
