Spirit Airlines is raising its baggage fees from now on and there's no denying that you will be paying more for your bags the next time you fly in this airline this 2014.

According to a Los Angeles Times report, Spirit Airlines has imposed since the start of the year 2014 that its low-cost carrier's baggage fees have gone up by at least a $1.

If you have been an avid patron, then you may have known already that Spirit has 24 different baggage fees, and their pricing depend on when and where you'd like to pay for your baggage.

For your carry-on bags, you are now obliged to pay $26 if you pay for them online while you book your ticket. Note that Spirit Airlines is the only airline that charges for carry-on bags.

Now if you happen to bring with you several bags, you should know that the first bag will cost you $21 while the second bag will cost you $31. Then, you will be required to pay $76 for each of your remaining bags. And take note, these new fees only apply to members of Spirit's $9 Fare Club, or those who are entitled to access the lowest fares.

Interestingly, of you are a $9 Fare Club member and you plan to pay for your bags online, you will be obliged to pay $36 for your carry-on. Checked bag prices range from $31, $41 to $86, depending on the number of bags you want checked. Technically, this means that there has been a $6 increase on the previous fees for the $9 Fare Club members.

On the other hand, if you are not a member of the club - a regular customer - your checking rate is at $45 for a carry-on bag. For you first bag you will be asked to pay $40, then $50 for the second one, and finally you will be obliged to pay $95 for the remaining bags. This means that there has been a $5 increase for regular customers.

Nevertheless, for heavy baggage, the fee remains at $100.

If it's any consolation, USA Today reports that for customers who purchased their tickets on or before Dec. 31, the new fees will not apply on their baggage, so they are pretty much spared from the additional fees.
