Flooding is causing a big disruption at Mineta San Jose International Airport. After a water line rupture, a terminal was shut down, causing passengers to wait in long lines and face delays on Monday.

A hot-water line broke at around 2:15 a.m. causing a sky bridge near Terminal A to fill withtwo to three inches of water. The bridge connects the parking garage to the terminal's security area, KGO-TV reports.

Maintenance crews worked to stop the water by 4:15 a.m. but the terminal was kept closed during the busy rush hour period as the water needed to be cleaned up. The closure of the terminal affected major airlines like American, All Nippon Airways, Delta, JetBlue, United, U.S. Airways, Virgin American and Volaris as they all operate out of Terminal A.

With the closure, passengers were told to head to Terminal B instead to catch their flights and luggage pickups were moved to Terminal B as well. Shuttle buses were operating to transfer passengers to the other terminal.

"The airlines are very aware of what's happening here and will do whatever they can to make sure customers make their flight on time," airport spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes told reporters according to the LA Times.

Barnes advised passengers to arrive at the airport two hours before their scheduled flight since there are a large number of people in Terminal B. Those with boarding passes and carry-on bags only should head right to Terminal B. Those with checked luggage should head to Terminal A to check in with the airline, but will be shuttled to Terminal B for the flight. All arriving passengers have to pick up their luggage in Terminal B.

It is not clear what caused the water line to rupture. Officials are continuing to investigate.
