The highly anticipated roles of the movie adaption, "50 Shades of Grey" has been cast. The roles of main characters Christian Grey and Anastasia has been cast by Charlie Hunnam as Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia.

Charlie Hunnam stars in the tv show, "Sons of Anarchy  and Johnson has starred in the tv show, "Ben & Kate" and had roles in  "The Socail Network."

"The film, which will focus on Anastasia, a college student who has a sexual awakening at the hands of Grey, will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and released next August," reported ABC News.

Author E.L James made the announcement on Monday morning in a number of tweets. Johnson is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.

"I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," the first tweet said.

Moments later she wrote, "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."

The film will be released in August 2014 and the two huge roles have been a source of speculation all over the internet.

James tweeted before the announcement, "Good moaning all. Hold on to your hats..."

The film is being directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and produced by Dan Brunetti, Michael De Luc and the author.

Hunnam has also been in movies like "Pacific Rim," "Children of Men," and "Cold Mountain."

"For months speculation has raged about who would play the two main leads. The other possibilities for Anastasia - a clumsy, innocent college student who enters the highly erotic relationship with Grey - included Emma Watson, Shailene Woodley and Analeigh Tipton," reported USA Today.

Rumors for Grey's role swirled around Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder and Robert Pattinson amongst others.
