Paula Deen's cook, Dora Charles has spoken out about Deen.

Charles, 59, said to USA Today that Deen didn't reward her properly for all the work she put in.

"She said, 'Stick with me.' One day if I get rich, you get rich.' " But it "just passed me by."

Charles added that she was only making $6.50 an hour as the cook at Deen's Lady & Sons restaurant in Savannah, Georgia.

Deen recently admitted that she used the n-word and her show on The Food Network was canceled and her fan base dwindling.

"According to the story, Charles did receive perks including free clothes and goods at times, and appeared on Deen's show, but Charles says in an accompanying NYTvideo, "I told her at times I didn't have enough money to buy my own medication." She adds that Deen threw a $100 bill at her," reported USA Today.

Deen's team said to TheNew York Times that Charles is an "employee, who despite over 20 years of generosity still feels she deserves even more financial support from Paula"

Deen wrote in her 2007 memoir that she would be devastated if she lost Charles. She said that Deen wanted her to ring a bell at the restaurant and tell people to come and get food.

"I said, 'I'm not ringing no bell,'" she told The Times. "That's a symbol to me of what we used to do back in the day."

Charles said that another employee, Ineata Jones, ended up ringing the bell and Charles claims that Denn wanted Jones to dress like Aunt Jemima.

However, Deen's team deny the allegations and claims that Charles thinks she deserves more financial support despite all of the generosity that Deen has shown her.

Charles added to The Times, "I'm just trying to put my story out there that she didn't treat me fairly, and I was her soul sister."
