Royal correspondents and representatives from TV networks and news organizations have been on high alert around the world, waiting for Kate Middleton and Prince William's baby. Hollywoodreporter.com said that Britain's royal correspondents have been in in the spotlight as of late because of intensive coverage of the royal baby and the looming due date.

"It's not the plum job by a long way," said Richard Sambrook who was the director of global news at BBC said to Hollywood Reporter. "Royal correspondents need to have particular skills to work with the institution, but retain their independence -- a bit akin to a diplomatic correspondent. It's a senior role for an experienced hand.

Paul Harrison who is a royal correspondent for BSkyB's Sky News said to The Hollywood Reporter that "it is a tough beat because you enter into a relationship, which is very much a give-and-take relationship [with a limited number of players], and you don't want to get caught missing anything as a 24-hour news service."

And that, "the story often lies in very small moments of audio in a crowd or a gesture or moments."

The baby is due any day now and Kate Middleton reportedly has left Kensington Palace to rest in Bucklebury Berkshire on July 12.

An insider told US Weekly that "It was just too warm in Nott Cott." Which refers to their cottage in Nottingham which doesn't have air conditioning.  "She decided to spend the weekend with mum and dad. Much more comfortable."

Middleton's baby's due date isn't public knowledge but the baby is due sometime in July which means all correspondents are on high alert waiting for the news to break.

Some of the royal family attended the Coronation Festival Concert at Buckingham Palace on July 11, but Prince William and Kate Middleton were not in attendance. The royal baby is due any day now.  Middleton's sister and brother Michael and Pippa were at the festival together along with their parents Michael and Carole.

"James, meanwhile -- at 26, the youngest of the brood -- was dapper in a dark blue suit, crisp white shirt, and red tie. He stuck close to his sister as they milled about the box, along with their parents, Michael and Carole," reported US weekly.
