London's Heathrow Airport will name its new Terminal 2 building after it's Queen. The Huffington Post reported that the terminal will be known as "Terminal 2: The Queens Terminal."

"The terminal is expected to open to passengers on June 4, 2014. For now, Heathrow says the terminal is on schedule to be completed in November, but that it will then undergo six months of testing. By the time the terminal opens for service it will have undergone 182 trials and been tested by 14,000 people, Heathrow says." Reported USA Today.

The large airport was first known as London Airport when it opened in 1946.

John Holland-Kaye, Heathrow's Development Director, says in a statement, "The Queen opened the original Terminal 2 more than half a century ago and we're delighted that Her Majesty has kindly agreed to give her name to the new Terminal 2. Everyone at Heathrow is extremely proud of our long association with The Queen and we know the new Terminal 2 will be a fitting continuation of that tradition."

The Queen's Terminal will also be home to the "Star Alliance Terminal" which puts all of Heathrow's airlines under that alliance under the same roof.

In other London airport news, London City airport has seen a record number of visitors. It has had its busiest ever month, week and day in May, reported breakingtravelnews.com. The airport peaked at 15,697 passengers on Friday 23rd . It's monthly figure was 315,514  which was its highest in 26 years.

That was nearly a 20 percent increase since May 2012.

"These record-breaking numbers, combined with consistently higher load factors, demonstrate real success in the development of the route network at LCY, said Matthew Hall to Breakintravelnews.com, who is the chief commercial officer of London City Airport. "With several new routes having launched already this year and additional rotations on established routes, we have achieved a significant increase in passenger numbers, compared to relatively static growth at other airports in the south-east."
