Rupert Murdoch, 82, has filed for divorce from his third wife Wendi Deng Murdoch. The billionaire who is a chairman of News Corp has been married to his wife for 14 years.

Bloomberg reported that Steven Rubenstein who is a spokesman for Murdoch from Rubestein Communications said that the divorce filing said that the "relationship between husband and wife has broken down irretrievably."

Wendi Murdoch is 37 years younger than her husband and was in the press in 2011 for physically defending him when he gave a testimony at a hearing over the hacking scandal that hit his U.K. news outlets. She literally, lept up and lunged at a man who tried to throw a pie at her husband's face.

CNN reported that they were married in 1999 and have two daughters. He was previously married to Anna Torv, who was a reporter at one of his newspapers and had three children with her. His first marriage to Patricia Booker ended in 1965.

Wendi Deng is Chinese born and eventually landed in the U.S. where she attended Yale School of Management. Before she met Murdoch she was married to a man who had sponsored her Chinese visa in the 1980s.

"Murdoch and Deng met at a Hong Kong cocktail party shortly after her graduation from Yale. Deng then went on to work at Star TV, a Hong Kong-based satellite television service that's under Murdoch's corporate umbrella," reported CNN.

"I fell in love with her, and I asked her. She said no, and it took a long time to persuade her," Murdoch said during a CCTV interview with his wife in 2011.

The couple got married just shortly after he filed for divorce from his second wife, Ann Torv. Murdoch also wed her in 1967, the same year he divorced his first wife.
