New york will be getting an  EVEN hotel, a hotel branded to focus on wellness and fitness. The hotel is owned by InterContinental Hotel Group and they have recently signed a deal to open a second location in Midtown Manhattan.

"We believe that there's a huge niche for this kind of traveler," Joel Eisemann, IHG's chief development officer, told USA Today. "There are a lot of travelers out there in the mainstream traveling public that are looking for ... the type of product we are launching with EVEN Hotels."

USA Today reported that the company announced that its second property will be located at 321 West 35th street in Midtown and will be 150 rooms and 25 floors. It will also be a new build instead of a conversion of an old building and is slated to open in 2015.

"It will have public work spaces, dining and social areas. But the hallmark of the property will be a state-of-the-art, larger than normal gym," reported USA Today.

EVEN hotel's flagship location is near Grand Central Station and is also slated to open in 2015. The brand was launched by IHG in 2012 and the gym will be front and center in the hotel with three zones including weightlifting, yoga and mat exercises and cardio.

The bedrooms will have fitness equipment such as exercise balls and the food served at the hotel will be fresh and organic amongst its offerings.

Eisemann added that New York attracts this kind of traveler who travels for business and leisure. "If we can have successful operating hotels in New York City, it sets the tone for the brand overall," he said to USA Today.

Glenn Haussman, executive editor of industry publication HotelInteractive.com, said to USA Today that New York is the ideal location for this type of hotel. "It's the hottest hotel market in the country, and this hotel will be exposed to millions of guests and passerby every day," he said to USA Today. "The city is also a great location to launch a wellness brand, something residents are focused on. This is the beginning of a long-term trend, and this property symbolizes that IHG is declaring they want to own this segment."
