Delta has unveiled a new portal at New York's JFK Airport. Included in the new additions are an expanded security area with 16 lanes and a Sky Club which has its own rooftop deck.

"This is a special day at Delta, the culmination of a very long journey,'' Delta CEO Richard Anderson said according to USA Today at a news conference. "We're going to keep investing in New York.''

The makeover has cost millions of dollars. "The newly expanded and renovated terminal includes nine new and seven renovated gates, with work starting next week on 11 more. Its Sky Club is state of the art, with touch screens where passengers can order sushi platters or cocktails, showers, and an outside deck that resembles the kind of rooftop lounge travelers can visit once they hit the streets of New York City," reported USA Today.

The Sky Deck is a highly anticipated outdoor terrace that was designed in partnership with Thom Filicia and Architectural Digest.

"Step outside and soak up the open air - then kick back with cocktails, snacks and breathtaking runway views," says Delta's website about the Sky Deck.

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg spoke at the news conference and spoke about the terminals new restaurants including the iconic Shake Shack and Blue Smoke on the road that gives travelers a taste of New York.

"Delta means a lot to New York City and New York City means a lot to Delta,'' Bloomberg said according to USA Today.

JFK is one of the biggest airports in the U.S. and welcomed 13.1 million international passengers last year which is more than any other US airport, reported The Huffington Post.
