Comedian and marijuana advocate, Tommy Chong from "Cheech and Chong" has been declared cancer-free after a battle with prostate cancer. Last June, Chong revealed that he was suffering with stage one prostate cancer but decided against traditional medicine and to treat the disease with lifestyle and diet changes.

In a blog post on CelebStoner.com Chong said that doctor's originally suggested a treatment that was not approved in America and could only be done in Mexico for $25,000. He then looked into alternative treatments and met with Dr. McKinnon in Victoria, BC.

"That doctor changed my diet and put me on supplements, and within a year I brought my PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) numbers down drastically and eliminated the cancer threat. I also treated the condition with hemp oil (hash oil). With the diet, the supplements and the hash oil, plus a session with a world-renowned healer, Adam Dreamhealer, I'm cancer-free. That's right, I kicked cancer's a-! So the magic plant does cure cancer with the right diet and supplements. I'm due for another blood test, MRI, etc., but I feel the best I've felt in years," wrote Chong.

Chong has also been the news lately for being an activist for legalizing marijuana. The 74-year-old said that if marijuana was legalized on a federal level it would offer a number of benefits and boost the economy.

"Look at the situation we're in now. Sequesters. Cuts. Everything cut across the board. Now, the government is tapped into the biggest cash crop in the world," Chong said to CBS News. "There's little manufacturing cost. You don't have to do anything except watch it grow and get a couple of hippies to cut it and then put it in a bag."

Chong noted that thus far there are nearly 20 states that have enacted laws to legalize medical marijuana and Colorado and Washington have totally legalized it.

"Hemp itself is going to save the world," Chong said to CBS News.
