Rapper Jim Jones of the group, The Diplomats, has been arrested after stepping out of line with a police officer in New Jersey.

The Associated Press reported that Jones was charged on Wednesday in Fair Lawn for "disorderly conduct and hindering apprehension."

Police stated that they were questioning Jones about a car that was ticketed that they were trying to tow and Jones said he would pay the fee but then got angry when they questioned him about various warrants. Reportedly he has warrants for failing to shovel a sidewalk and not yielding to an emergency vehicle.

TMZ reported that police were responding to a complaint about an illegally parked car outside his home.

"Cops say the officer ran Jim's name through the system and noticed two warrants out for the rapper's arrest -- one for a motor vehicle violation and the other for failure to remove snow from his sidewalk ... apparently, that's a crime in NJ," reported TMZ.

The Fair Lawn Patch reported that Jones denied the that the warrants existed and became disorderly with the police officer. Jones was then taken to a nearby police station and booked.

Jim Jones is part of the group The Diplomats, also known as Dipset. They are a Harlem based group and founded by Jones and Cam'ron in 1997. The original members of the  group included Jones, Cam'ron, Freekey Zekey and then Juelz Santana joined the group in 1999.

"After continued success with his Dipset crew and his Diplomat Record label, Jim's solo album, On My Way To Church, debuted at #18 on Billboard Top 200 in August 2004, and has sold over 200,000 copies independently to date. The videos for the first single, "Certified Gangsta", and second single, "Crunk Musik", have received consistent airplay on both BET and MTV. Jim Jones is also exceedingly popular in the fast-paced world of mix-tape releases," reported lastfm.com about Jones.

Jones is preparing to release a new Documentary Film called The Jim Jones Project which "presents a candidly-told cautionary tale of a "gangsta" rapper in transition. A purposeful message in the documentary is intended to act as a deterrent for the self-destructive behaviors of at-risk youth who have taken the bravado of "gangsta" rap to heart," reported lastfm.com.
