Police responded to reports of a woman and two children found fatally shot in their northeast Denver home early Wednesday morning. A third injured child survived, was rushed to the hospital and was listed in critical condition after surgery Wednesday afternoon, CBS 4 Denver reported.

The incident, which occurred at a duplex located at East 50th Avenue and Pearl Street shortly before 7 a.m., was ruled a murder-suicide, according to Fox31 Denver's reporting at a morning press conference with Denver Police.

A source told Fox that the mother at the heart of the murder-suicide is Mila Perez, and the two children who were killed are Eric, 2, and Neveah, 6.

Police could not officially confirm information about the children, though. According to Police Lt. Matt Murray, who spoke with CBS, because he cannot yet verify their identity, he can't reveal the age of each child.

Police told Fox that no arrests are imminent, and there does not seem to be a threat to anyone in the area near the crime scene. Murray told CBS that officers were awaiting a warrant to search the home for evidence.

"It appears to be an isolated incident," Murray told CBS. "We are talking to people, we are talking to witnesses, but we have no indication that there is a shooter out there on the loose in Denver."

Police said the shooting was being ruled a death investigation until more information becomes available, according to CBS.

"I would ask that we all keep those involved - those that are going to be faced with this horrible tragedy - in our thoughts," Denver Police Chief Richard White told CBS.
