Every internet junkie knows who Michelle Phan is. She's a YouTube beauty guru who became a brilliant star and has over 9 million followers. She has gone AWOL in the past nine months, baffling all her fans and viewers, but it was revealed she spent a few months traveling around the world and rediscovering herself.

Michelle was one of the most successful YouTube partners to date. She started uploading her makeup tutorials on YouTube when she was juggling part-time waitressing back in 2009, and after a few years, she became a hit.

But being an internet sensation has some drawbacks as well. Daily Mail reported the 30-year-old beauty guru was suffering from depression, although she was never medically diagnosed. According to Michelle, she just felt "sad every day" and wakes up always feeling anxious and disoriented. The failed launching of her beauty line, Em Cosmetics, made everything a lot worse.

Thus leading Michelle to her snap decision to disappear from the public for a while and booked a one-way ticket to Switzerland, according to Travel and Leisure. From there, her journey went on for seven months as she traveled by herself all over the world, stopping by Amsterdam, China, and Egypt along the way.

"I decided to pack my life into a small suitcase, and I literally just left," Michelle said. "I just had my thoughts, nature, and the stars - no WiFi or anything- and that transformed me."

She said her decision to disappear for a while and focus on herself made her feel refreshed. Now that she's back, she has a lot of things to catch up on, such as the re-launching of Em. But this time, she knows everything is going to turn around for the better.

Traveling has always been a stress reliever for Michelle. She said it also gives her perspective and increases her day-to-day knowledge. On that, we can all agree.
