There is a possibility of having a second season for "Big Little Lies." In one of her interviews, the series writer revealed that there is a potential season 2.

Liane Moriarity, the author of this New York Times number-one bestseller, where the series was adapted, spoke about the possibility of the show's second season. On The Sydney Morning Herald, through Coming Soon, Moriarity said that the show's producers asked her to come up with some ideas. She added that she has been thinking of ways to continue the show but she does not want to write a new book but perhaps a new story.

"Big Little Lies," which is known for its dark comedy genre, aired its season finale in April 2. When it was adapted by the screenwriter David E. Kelly for the small screen, he left out the backstory of the character named Bonnie, which is played by Zoe Kravitz. It appears that the said backstory might be the central plot for the upcoming season 2.

However, Moriarity reacted in question that how the backstory could be left out but viewers also had their thoughts saying that they can already perceive what Bonnie's true story was. This is because some hints were given in some little lines and it can be already implied in her performance. Moriarity added that this left a door open for having the series' season 2, according to Vanity.

Starring on this novel adapted series are Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgard, Laura Dern, Adam Scott, Zoe Kravitz, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nording. "Big Little Lies" is directed by Jean-Marc Vallee (Wild, Dallas Buyers Club) and script written by David E. Kelly. The adaptation is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea, Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, David E. Kelly, Jean-Marc Vallee, Nathan Ross, Gregg Fienberg and Barbara Hall with Liane Moriarity as the producers.
