The family of the late Carrie Fisher has already given the go signal to Lucasfilm to have her character, Leia Organa, appear in "Star Wars Episode IX." The studio, though, won't be recreating her via CGI, they will instead use recent footages of the actress.

According to a report from Ars Technica, Lucasfilm said in January that they don't have any plans of creating a CGI version of Leia Organa, similar to what they did with the late Peter Cushing's Grand Moff Tarkin in "Rouge One: A Star Wars Story." The studio will instead be using recent footages of the late actress.

The report said that Fisher has already concluded filming her roles for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and extra footages for the film are likely going to make up the bulk of her appearance in "Episode IX." Fisher was supposed to play a bigger role in the third installment of the latest trilogy.

But with her untimely death last December 27, its now a question of whether or not there are enough footages to complete the movie, or will Disney and Lucasfilm do some rewrites. But one thing's certain, the studios have permission from Fisher's brother, Todd Fisher, and her daughter Billie Lourd to let her be part of "Star Wars: Episode IX."

RTE reports that Todd said he and Fisher's daughter were like, "Yes, how do you take her out of it?" He adds that "you don't" and the fans of the series should also be taken into consideration when it comes to her character.

"I think the people deserve to have her," Todd said. "She's owned by them." But her role will still be full of uncertainty.

Nevertheless, Ars Technica said it is reassuring to know that Disney is planning to keep their promise of not using CGI to bring her character back. Considering that there were mixed reactions with "Rogue One's" CGI Grand Moff Tarkin and the ethical questions surrounding it.

The next movie in the franchise, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is scheduled on December 15, 2017. Check out the video below for more news on "Episode VIII."
