The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards 2017 is fast approaching and predictions have been aplenty. The full list of nominees will be announced on July 13, 2017, but this early, predictions keep coming in.

For this year's Emmy, Stephen Colbert was chosen to host the annual big event for television. It will be aired live on Sept. 17, 2017, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, the home network of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert." This will be Colbert's first major awards-show stint as per Variety. The Emmys will be aired on CBS this year. The show rotates every year among ABC, Fox, CBS, and NBC.

One of the categories that movie connoisseurs are excited to know is the Outstanding Drama Series. "Game of Thrones" won last year's Emmy but this year, it will not be eligible because it will not air in time for the awards season. Indie Wire shared its predictions for this year in no particular ranking: "The Americans"(FX), Mr. Robot (USA), "Better Call Saul"(AMC), "Homeland" (Showtime) are seen as possible winners. Other series that are predicted to win are "House of Cards" (Netflix), "The Crown"(Netflix), "This Is Us"(NBC), and "Westworld"(HBO).

For the Best Comedy Series, "Veep" which is last year's winner is still eligible to be nominated this year. Netflix's "Master of None," HBO's Silicon Valley," Netflix's "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"), ABC's "Modern Family" and "black-ish" were on the nominations list last year and are still included in this year's acclaimed series. FX's "Atlanta" made it on the list.

One of the shows that are being closely watched this year on the Best Talk Show category is "The Ellen Show." If Ellen DeGeneres gets the Emmy trophy this time for her show, it will make history as the talk show that earned 10 times although not successively.
