The second film of the "Star Wars" trilogy, "The Last Jedi" is set to release this coming December while the finale will follow approximately two years afterward. There are no previews for the upcoming "Episode VIII" and the stars are especially tight-lipped for any teaser. However, hardcore fans are now getting ahead of others for the most anticipated trilogy finale.

Fans are still hyped with the spin-off story "Rogue One", not to mention another spin-off movie focusing on Han Solo and his space smuggling adventures. According to Stars Posts, an all-new casting call was announced by the filmmakers for supporting and lead roles for the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode IX". It can be recalled that a new set of leading characters was introduced in "The Force Awakens" that features Daisy Ridley as Rey, Finn played by John Boyega and Oscar Isaac as Poe together with the villainous son on Han and Leia, Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver. This announcement came as a shock to many fans which led to others speculating that one of the main casts will not make it for the trilogy finale.

There are no official confirmations coming from both Disney and Lucasfilm regarding the death of any major characters. The filmmakers may be simply adding come surprise characters that will help the initial trio in their quest. The unexpected casting may also be attributed to Carrie Fisher's untimely death after suffering a heart attack.

The only confirmed information as of the moment is that the ninth installment will begin shooting this coming July as reported by Games Radar. This gives the director Collin Trevorrow 22 months to get things done in time for its May 2019 release. The finale broke away from the previous pattern where its prequels where "Star Wars: Episode IX" will be released earlier that December 2019.
