Many movies based on comic books are finding difficulties in adopting the full potential of the material because filmmakers tend to limit themselves in order to have a better film rating. Logically it is understandable, as the film will be more open to the general public thus more earnings. However, with the recent success of rated-R movies like "Deadpool" and "Logan", other films are bound to follow the same path like the upcoming live-action movie "Spawn".

The previously mentioned anti-hero films featured extreme violence and gore which made use of its bloody source material's full potential giving the filmmakers more room to imagination. The result is astonishing with "Deadpool" garnering a whopping $760.3 million against its $58 million budget. "Logan" on the other hand, have an amazing $85.3 million opening weekend box office and it is expected to get higher and higher by each moment.

The live-action "Spawn" was confirmed last year and in the recent Emerald City Comic Con, the original creator, Todd McFarlane together with the legend Stan Lee made an appearance. They two made a panel where they answered a few questions for the fans as reported by Comic Book.

A fan asked how the film is progressing which McFarlane answered that the movie is going to be rated-R, dark and nasty. He also teased that more updates regarding the film will be announced in the San Diego Comic Con this coming summer as stated by Bleeding Cool. "I'm hoping by San Diego I have a big announcement, of, uh, a Spawn movie, right? So, a big announcement coming. We're working on it," said McFarlane.

The protagonist in the movie will be the antihero named Spawn, a Hellspawn or human who traded their souls to the devil. Considering that he is from hell and he draws power in it, we can expect nothing less of an R-rating. For now, fans will have to wait for further announcements but they are expecting high caliber action scenes with a lot of violence and gore for "Spawn".
