AMD is making a comeback in the high-end x86 microprocessor market and they already have a great chip for it. The AMD Ryzen 7 1800x Processor is already putting its competitor Intel on notice.

According to a review from Thomas Ryan of SemiAccurate, this latest chipset from AMD is performs at a high level and is a modern multicore CPU. It is also the first chipset to use the company's latest Zen microarchitecture.

This latest chipset has eight Zen cores that have a base clock of 3.6 Ghz and 4Ghz turbo clock. It also has 16MBs of L3 cache and a DDR4 2667 memory. It's also equipped with AMD's SenseMI, which has power tuning technologies for better performance.

What's more, Ryan said that AMD's latest chipset already beats Intel by arbitrarily choosing to multiplier lock certain CPU models and enabling overclocking on both the company's X series chipset and the midrange B series chipsets. Intel has disabled overclocking on all of its chipsets, except for the Z series and X series, and its multiplier locks most of its processor range.

Though the AMD Ryzen 7 1800x processor offers great performance, Ars Technica said that this processor is mostly an excellent workstation, but falls a little when it comes to gaming.

They said that this processor is not the fastest when it comes to pure instructions per clock, plus its multicore prowess won't be used to full capacity by every application. As for games, the current state of the processor doesn't make it ideal for gamers.

Nevertheless, the report says that this processor shows that Intel doesn't have the monopoly anymore when it comes high-end and high-performing processors. And with its price of $500, this processor is even more attractive than its competitors. Get to know more about the AMD Ryzen 7 1800x processor and its performance in the video below.
