A new Avatar Game is in the works at Ubisoft's studio. The game will soon be released on PC and consoles.

Developer Massive Entertainment, during the announcement of The Division's DLC, announced a new ambitious project that most game aficionados never anticipated. Ubisoft announced that its Swedish development team is paying a visit to the Avatar universe with the nods from Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Fox.

Avatar is a 2009 blockbuster film, written, directed, and produced by James Cameron. It is the highest grossing film of all time. At present, Avatar has four cinematic sequels in the works, with the second in the series scheduled to begin filming in August for a potential 2018 release window. This will be Ubisoft's second Avatar game. In 2009, the team released the first game on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC was widely slammed by critics.

During the announcement, Ubisoft gave very few details about the new Avatar Game project. It only confirmed that Massive Entertainment is using its Snowdrop engine to create the world of Pandora and that the game will be available to consoles and PC. The game title, release window, and type of game will be disclosed at a later date, says Game Informer.

The upcoming Avatar game is styled as cutting-edge, although no details were offered about this. In addition, there is a teaser video that was released, which features commentary from people at Ubisoft Massive and James Cameron himself. The teaser shown was an excerpt from the 2009's Avatar movie. It is not the new game and there is no gameplay footage released as well. There is a very limited information revealed about this upcoming Avatar game aside from the fact that it is set on Pandora from the movie series, revealed Game Spot.

Ubisoft did not indicate however when it is expecting to launch the new Avatar game. We will report back with more details on Ubisoft Massive's Avatar game as soon as more information becomes available.
