Over the years Chicken McNuggets have become a household name in the U.S. Now, the fast-food chain could be adding another chicken product to its menu, "Mighty Wings."

The AP reported that the chain is set to expand its test wings to the city of Chicago after being successful in Atlanta last year. The wings would be sold in three, five or 10 piece sets and are likely going to be priced  starting at $3.

Making the wings permanent on the menu could be tricky however the price for chicken wings have been climbing over the year, reports David Harvey to The AP who is an agriculture economist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

"In December, the cost of wings in the wholesale market in the Northeast was 26 percent higher than a year ago. Wings sold for $1.90 a pound that month, compared with $1.30 a pound for boneless, skinless chicken breasts," reported The AP.

The Huffington Post reported that this is not the first time around for Mighty Wings at Mcdonalds. Reportedly the chain started selling the wings in 1990 and were discontinued in 2003. They are still sold in other countries.

ccording to Bloomberg BusinessWeek in July CEO Don Thompson, "is pulling from McDonald's 160- item recipe book, which includes bone-in chicken wings and cashew teriyaki salads with chicken, to sell new food and attract cash-conscious consumers amid a shaky global economy."

McDonalds could offer the dish for a limited time or keep it permament on the menu if it does well. It's competitor Burger King, launched a huge menu expansion which included smoothies, specialty coffee drinks and snack wraps. They also introduced chicken nuggets which closely represent chicken McNuggets from McDonalds.
