A large number of the French population is not happy with the lineup of presidentiables in the upcoming election. They are eyeing the former president of America to run for office in France.

People who believe that Obama has the qualification of a good president have started a countrywide signature campaign to reach 1 million signatures. They are gathering that much number of signatures to convince Michelle Obama's husband to become their president.

The Obama17 petitioners installed 500 posters of the former president in public areas in Paris urging people to visit their site. Their slogan says "Oui on peut' which means "Yes we can!" Their website says that that the former US Head of State has "the best resume in the world." The site is all praise for Obama stating that he has successfully completed his second term as president.

Daily Mail reported that Barack Obama has to learn the French language first and foremost. Second, since it is a law that the president of a country must be a citizen. So Mr. Obama has to become a citizen of France which takes time to process.

The petitioners who remained unknown understand fully well the requirements of the law. Admittedly, they said it was just a joke. They were frustrated with the politicians running for office that they want to look for the better candidate elsewhere.

One petitioner said that they are thinking about the politics in the country and they were fed up. They want to vote for someone they admire, and that is Barack Obama. It is also their intention to wake people up and effect a change in French politics.

Stay tuned for reactions from the person promoted in the petition - Barack Obama. Will he desire to lead France if given the chance? Meanwhile according to AOL, the former president and his wife just came back from a much needed rest and relaxation. They spent some time at the British Virgin Islands together with their two daughters. The Obamas are now back in Washington DC enjoying their lives as private citizens.
