Fans of Netflix's "Daredevil" will be glad to know that the streaming company has just released a short teaser trailer for season 3. However, they could also be in for a bit of a long wait for the third season's premiere.

"Daredevil" season 2 premiered on Netflix in March 2016, 11 months after the show's first season and exactly five months after the debut of Jessica Jones. However, fans of the series will need to wait a little bit longer before the premiere of season 3.

According to a report from The Express, one of the reasons why season 3 could take a bit longer to premiere is because of the current influx of Marvel-related programming on Netflix. Shows such as "The Punisher", "Iron Fist", "Luke Cage", and cross-over series "The Defenders" are all filling up the superhero schedule on Netflix.

Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer of Netflix, says that viewers can expect the company to put out two new seasons of its Marvel properties every year. "I think ideally there will be a rhythm of about every six months you'll get a new season or a new series from the Defenders group", said Sarandos. The first seasons of "Iron Fist", "The Defenders", and "The Punisher" are already scheduled to premiere in 2017. There are also reports that Jessica Jones will be making a return this year as well.

With all of these shows pencilled in for 2017, "Daredevil" season 3 might not be premiering until sometime in mid-2018. With the third season still more than a year away, there's not that much information available about its plot. However, we have been given a few hints on some of the villains that might make an appearance.

Vincent D'Onofrio recently told Collider his Kingpin character will "eventually" make an appearance after he has spent the last two seasons locked up behind bars. Charlie Cox has also said that he would like the expert marksman, Bullseye, to appear on the show. Bullseye killed both Karen and Elektra in the original comic books, but the Netflix series has been known to deviate from its source material.
